Biography

My name is Roger Silva i Vilalta and I was born in 1972 in Barcelona, Catalonia - Europe. I'm creative, Catalan, republicanist and leftist. My pseudonym or tag is Dreadful, name that comes from the title of a horror comic that I drew in 86-87.

/ dreadful : dreadful (adjective) causing or involving great suffering, fear or unhappiness;
extremely bad or serious: there's been a dreadful accident /

Few time later I started to use it regularly on the world of hip hop during the years 86-93. Since 93-94 it became my name in the computers world, in 94-95 in the internet and design worlds and in 1997 the name of my first website.

The year 2000 it became the registered trademark and the domain name of my studio, accompanying the name of all my projects. In 2005 it progressively came back to the hip hop world. In 2006 it was one of the first .CAT domain names.

I currently have two long-term creative projects underway: In 2007 I started Dreadful© BCN HIP HOP, which consists of a book, a documentary and a blog, and the 2012 I started a still hidden project, which consists of a website and three blogs.

In parallel, I currently share a long-term creative project underway: In 2016 I join the organization of BREAK BCN, a hip hop exhibition, to contribute new contents, make it evolutive and itinerant and to leave constance of all with a blog.

· Training

I coursed primary, secondary, superior and alternative studies. The centers whose I keep best memories are: Canigó, El Petit Príncep, Àngels Garriga, Sagrada Família, Massana, Pinadell, Salla, IEN and CEK, where I studied Advertising Graphic Design.

The fact that at that time there weren't yet formal studies of the things that I liked, doesn't made me to study something that I didn't like for the fact of to have a degree and I opted to study the courses that I could and to learn the rest working.

After studying, already working, I trained myself mainly with Anaya Multimedia on Web and Multimedia Design. From 2005 to 2010 I trained with courses, seminars and tutorials about hardware and software given by Sony, Apple and Adobe.

In 2010 I started to update the knowledge that I already had about different graffiti techniques with current specialized tools, both in the studio and the street, listening to the advices of great writers, which I continue doing.

In 2016 I started to study specialization courses and workshops focused on the preservation, conservation and digitization of photographic originals from archives and the curatorship, design and diffusion of projects at the IEFC, which I continue doing.
